Nature Sculpture and Artist Statement
For the nature sculptures that I have created I wanted focus on the idea of rounded forms in nature as well as natural things that have negative spaces and openings. Most of my sculptures are covered in black ink to mimic dirt from the ground as to represent pulling some of the sculptures directly from the ground. The white yarn I used in some of the sculptures was used to represent purity of natural things that are untouched and unchanged, as well as relating the natural fibers found in most plants. The exposed wire, or visible wire in some of my sculptures, were left in that state to represent the structure, sturdiness, and stability of nature itself and its natural forms. I also want to bring up the knowledge of cycles in nature, such as the circle of life, or the cycle of every living thing. It is constantly going around in a never ending way and everything is somehow connected in this cycle, which is why most of my sculptures have no distinct end points. FINAL SOL...
